These molded tanks can be manufactured using resins that meet FDA/USDA specifications to ensure safe storage of potable water, food products and pharmaceutical solutions.

 | | | Crosslinked Polyethylene Resins (XLPE)
Cross-linked polyethylene resin is the "Incredible Hulk" of polyethylene resins. XLPE resins are more chemically resistant, impact resistant, and resistant to environmental stress cracking. The only drawback to XLPE tanks is that they can not be welded with current welding technology.
XLPE tanks should always be employed where strong oxidizing acids, such as sulfuric acid or strong caustics such as sodium hydroxide and sodium hyperclorite are used.
Since welding can not be employed on XLPE tanks, mechanical fittings must be used, with proper material selection of fittings, elastomeric gaskets and donker bolts.
Rotationally molded polyethylene storage tanks are available for flat bottom vertical storage, conical bottom storage and horizontal storage. Double wall tanks for the primary and secondary containment demands of hazardous materials are also available.

| | | | | Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE or LLDPE)
Linear low density resin (LDPE & LLDPE) are FDA compliant resins and are suitable for many applications where lower concentrations of corrosive chemicals are used. Such as food, beverage, and some pharmaceutical applications.
LDPE tanks can be modified with Plastek Werks superior welding technology. We can install baffles, side manways, welded ANSI rated flange fittings, vents, and other required customer needs.
LDPE tanks are only rated to 140°F, with very specific chemical requirements. Strong acids and caustics are not recommended for LDPE tanks.
